It’s been reported that after observing Civil War soldiers from both sides praying before going into battle against each other, that Abraham Lincoln said, “My concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side.”
There is a side that is usually right. In Lincoln’s case, he could feel confident he was on the right side, on God’s side. After all, President Lincoln was fighting to preserve the Union, for equality, and for freedom.
In the book of Joshua, God tells Joshua that if you stay on my side; “you will you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” One thing I’ve always considered is that if there’s a “good success” than there’s a “bad success.”
Achieving prosperity and good success; Do you have a strong strategic plan??
On multiple occasions, I’ve paid between $7000 and $20,000 for strategic planning sessions for my companies. If that sounds like a lot to you, then you’ve not been using the calculator app on your iPhone or android.
Strategic planning defines at a minimum 3-year, 12-month, and 90-day goals and puts in the necessary tactics to achieve them. As has been proven throughout the ages, fail to plan – then plan to fail. Big plans without big planning means you fail bigger.
Poor strategy or more commonly, a lack of planning at all, costs business and their owners millions.
The Little Kissimmee Miracle
I started being asked to speak at chiropractic seminars after my 3rd month in practice. By that point in practice, I was adjusting over 600 patients each week and we were a million dollar+ practice seeing 1000/week in less than 1 year. I had 3 clinics open before the end of 3 years.
While that sounds like a whole lot or even unbelievable to some, what people do not realize is that I had spent months putting a strategy together.
When I opened my first practice in Kissimmee, I had a well-drawn out strategy to reach every family in the city within 6 months. As an example of just 1 key part of the strategic plan – I created wellness programs for teachers that I taught by teaching CEs. Additionally, I became the team doctor for sports teams at 5 different high schools. Just that one component of the plan helped me reach a significant number of families with our important, life-saving health message.
Another key component of the plan to save lives was to meet with leaders in the not-for-profit world. With my passion for transformation, I was particularly drawn toward shelters designed to educate, train, and restore people’s lives. I ended up working with 5 major charities: Give Kids The World, Make-a-Wish, 4C Head Start, D.A.R.E., and the Food Bank. This opened up the door to 1000s of more families over time.
I call it the Little Kissimmee Miracle because the results went even better than planned (Although would have never occurred if I hadn’t planned). The “miracle” was the ringing phone. In a new practice like mine at the time, it was considered normal and a solid start if 30 new people came in during the first month. We had 32 new patients on the first Monday of opening. In total, over 500 new people came in the door during just the first 4 months. And it didn’t stop there.
Over the next three years we had to expand to three more locations in neighboring communities to keep up with that avalanche of growth. All of those locations went from zero to a million. Additionally, the Little Kissimmee Miracle expanded into now 100s of clinics I’ve helped to open and 100s more I’ve coached that have experienced the same results. BUT NOT WITHOUT A STRONG STRATEGIC PLAN
Have fun (Planning) saving the world
