How some doctors actually had record numbers in March and many people are going to come out of this stronger and better than ever (While others could have real trouble)

It’s been discovered that throughout time all of the heroes of history, the Bible, literature, mythology, fables, and folk stories go through the same process. This process is called “The Hero’s Journey.”
This journey describes the typical adventure of the archetype known as The Hero, the person who goes out and achieves great deeds on behalf of the group, tribe, or civilization.
It is my belief that we’re called to be heroes right now. While we need presidents, politicians, and local leaders to make reasonable and expedient decisions, it will be up to us to lead people in this, through this, and in the rebuilding of the wall after this.
The 7 Stages of the Hero’s Journey:
- Tension: Potential hero becomes stuck in a crisis (right now), aware of injustice, faced with a painful dilemma, and becomes uncomfortable.
- Resists change: Potential hero inexplicably resists the calling. Despite what’s at stake; fear of the unknown, doubts and uncertainties about themselves, a lack of critical skills, or pre-wired habits of laziness and procrastination stop them
- Meet the mentor: A teacher, coach, or spiritual guide encourages, trains, and evokes breakthrough.
- Cross the threshold: Meet allies and the enemies who are used to create his transformation.
- Death: Potential hero confronts death or faces his or her greatest fear.
- Resurrection: He or she is purified by a last sacrifice, another moment of death and rebirth, but on a higher and more complete level. By the hero’s action, the polarities that were in conflict at the beginning are finally resolved.
- Victory: Now changed, potential has been realized, is a true Hero, and has the power to change the world
Heroic Action Steps:
- What weaknesses have been exposed? Ex: Better at digital communication
- What opportunities has the current challenge created? Ex: Providing virtual healthcare
- What skillsets have you known you needed to master that you have put off? Ex: Are there on-line training or degrees you can acquire to make you an expert in an area that would expand what you can offer the world or make you better at delivering the products and service you provide right now?
Personally, I’ve been helping dozens of doctors become recession-proof (and virus-proof) through creating a virtual practice and I’ve been getting my PhD in business on-line and am speeding up that process. This has been a game-changer by providing for lost income for some and in shut-down states is the only way some doctors are still able to work.
There’s no way to know what the world will look like 30-60-90 days from now or year to year, time to breakthrough and be the hero.
Need help? I’m willing to talk through steps doctors can take now to survive or even thrive during this difficult time.
Let’s save the world
Dr. Ben
