HOW TO BE A CHIROPRACTOR AND HAVE A LIFE
Missing the marriage, coaching your kids, skipping the dance recitals, not being there for your 6th graders bad symphony concerto, and being absent from other important events or hobbies is no way to spend your life.
There’s a whole world to see, experiences to be had, hobbies, new business, ideas, and ministries that you can’t live because your too busy paying the bills.
GRIND KILLS. I owe chiropractic and chiropractors my life. I consult for many corporations and entrepreneurs. We help others and save lives, but the next LIFE you save may need to be your own. You can avoid or overcome the grind with the help of better knowing the business of chiropractic.
4 Key Points to having a life and business – not a job.
1. You are above and beyond the business. While you have built it, it isn’t you. We are often told, “You are your practice.” Are you spiritual enough? Healer enough? Technical enough? (I would agree with leader enough).
2. The business is designed to give you a more abundant life and not less of a life. As a business grows, it should be moving you towards more and more freedom, not less. Success should set you free, not be a ball and chain.
3. Old e-myth principle is still key today: work on the business not just in the business. Chiropractors are the living, breathing examples of being both technician and manager (tech-managers) rather than the owners.
4. Hire, train, and support great people who are as successful at delivering your processes without you as they are with you. This is called an exit strategy and building it to sell.
Get a life: In the book, Tuck Everlasting, a point is made: “Why live forever, if you aren’t loving the ride?” One of the main characters goes on to say, “Don’t be afraid of death; be afraid of an unlived life. You don’t have to live forever, you just have to live.”
